SEMO Craft Beer Links Update

Be sure to check out the improvements to the "Links" section on the SEMO Craft Beer Page. I have categorized all of the links and added significantly more content. The new sections include SEMO Craft Beer News, SEMO Craft Breweries, SEMO Craft Beer Retailers, SEMO Restaurants, SEMO Homebrewing, Craft Beer News, Craft Beer & Food, Craft Beer Events, and SEMO Distributed Breweries.

There are a lot of cool links here that should help make SEMO Craft Beer your portal to all things Craft Beer in Southeast Missouri and around the country. You will notice the SEMO Distributed Breweries section contains an extensive list of breweries who distribute to retailers in our area. This list is not all inclusive, and if anyone sees any other breweries available here in SEMO please feel free to let me know via a blog comment or Facebook post.

In the upcoming days and weeks, look for an additional SEMO Winery section listing SEMO Wineries who serve Craft Beer on site, a SEMO Craft Beer Events section with links to websites for reocurring SEMO Events involving Craft Beer, and for additional links to be added within all the existing sections.
Cheers!

Crown Valley Brewing & Distilling Co. will be hosting an Oktoberfest Celebration September 25th and 26th. Mark your calenders! I will post the details later when they become available.

Schlafly Raspberry Coffee Stout

Exciting news! Schlafly just posted on facebook that they brewed their first batch of Raspberry Coffee Stout at the Tap Room yesterday and have received label for the upcoming 750 ml bottle limited release expected in early September. The Raspberry Coffee Stout is a collaboration with Kaldi's Coffee and Schnuck's/Culinaria in which Schlafly takes their year-round-release Oatmeal Stout and adds fresh raspberry puree and Kaldi's coffee. Make sure and ask your local retailers if they will be stocking Schlafly's Limited Release Raspberry Coffee Stout that you read about on SEMO Craft Beer when it is released in early September.
Cheers!

Crown Valley Homebrew Competition November 27th

Crown Valley will be hosting a 2nd homebrewer's competition November 27th. I will send out another update when they decide on the style categories and details so that homebrewers have plenty of time to plan their brewing accordingly. November 27th leaves plenty of time for you craft beer lovers out there who have never homebrewed before to learn how. Stop by Homebrew Supply of Southeast Missouri in Jackson and John Huber, shop owner, can set you up with all the neccessary supplies and ingredients to learn the art of brewing your own beer. It really is a rewarding hobby. If craft brewers wouldn't have started out as homebrewers trying to craft more flavorful beer, we would have never had the Great Craft Beer Movement in the US that we have experienced over the last two decades.

"Man v. Beer"

This is just awesome! Check out this latest article from Draft Magazine. It only makes sense that our beloved food warrior from Travel Channel's "Man v. Food", Adam Richman, is a lover of craft beer.

SCHLAFLY BELGIAN-STYLE BEERS

BELGIAN GRAND CRU
Fruity, spicy aromas and flavors contribute to the complexity of this golden-colored Belgian ale. Medium body and effervescence contribute to a light, dry impression, despite its strength and sweet, smooth finish. ABV: 9%, OG: 18.3, IBU: 20

BELGIAN TRIPEL
This full-bodied, golden ale is brewed with a Belgian yeast, which gives it a rich, fruity character. This is NOT your typical yellow beer.

BELGIAN WITBIER
This unfiltered wheat ale is brewed with a Belgian yeast and flavored with orange peel and coriander. Made with locally harvested unmalted wheat from Alhambra, Illinois. Very snappy and refreshing. ABV: 5%, OG: 12, IBU: 18

SEMO Craft Beer

Welcome to SEMO Craft Beer and Post #1! This blog is a place for Southeast Missourian's to come to explore SEMO Craft Beer. In the days and weeks to come this blog will include weekly updates on local craft beer offerings, new realeases, craft beer events, and homebrewing events and information for the Southeast Missouri Area.

I hope this site can act as a tool in promoting Craft Beer culture in the area. We have great opportunities here to expand our retail and dining offerings and spread the word to our friends, families, and neighbors as to what Craft Beer can be. Who knows, maybe another local brewery will fire up a new kettle or a local winery will decide to offer local craft beer along side their wines after seeing how much Craft Beer Support really exists in Southeast Missouri. Maybe one of these days we will be able to order a Belgian Dubbel, German Hefeweizen, Russian Imperial Stout, or Double IPA at a variety of local eateries.

The Craft Beer movement is changing the way this country eats, drinks, and socializes. Let's help bring the revolution to Southeast Missouri.

Cheers!
Ryan
