Primo Vino! Tasting - Beer Descriptions

I have researched all 12 Craft Beers that Primo Vino! will be sampling tomorrow from 6-8pm. Here are the notes from ratebeer.com, Avery's website, and Jolly Pumpkin's website. Enjoy & Cheers!

Bell's Beers

Bell's Oberon
ABV: 6%
An American wheat ale made with European ingredients. Belgium wheat malt and Czech Saaz hops provide a spicy, fruity balance to this seasonal ale. (Formerly known as Solsun)

Bell's Third Coast
ABV: 5.2%
A beautiful golden-hued brew in the pale ale style. The lightest of our beers, it includes a nice hop flavor and all pale malts.

Bell's Pale Ale
ABV: 5.3%
A refreshing, blond colored pale ale. Bell’s pale ale is made almost exclusively from pale malt. It expresses a spicy floral hop aroma and taste.

Bell's Amber Ale
ABV: 6%
Made from mostly pale malt and some Munich and caramel malts. These add a little sweetness, which is balanced by more hops. The result is a rich color and fruity flavor.

Bell's Best Brown Ale
ABV: 5.8%
This is a rich brown ale perfect for the fall. Exclusive use of all Belgian specialty malts give a rich yet dry finish to this beer.

Avery Beers

Avery duganA IPA
Beer Style: Double India Pale Ale
Hop Variety: Chinook, Centennial and Columbus
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, dark aromatic, caramel malt
OG: 1.076 ABV: 8.5% IBUs: 93
Color: Deep Gold
Availability: Limited release. Inaugural batch was released in early October '09. Brewed whenever we have a little extra tank space and a desire for dank hops!

Lupulin Rapture Incarnate! As fervent devotees of hops, we found ourselves on a quest to create a transcendental IPA capable of quenching our voracious lupulin desires. Our mantra became "unity of bitterness, hop flavor and aroma." Enlightened, duganA IPA was born: A brutally bitter, dank, piney and resinous ale designed for those seeking a divine hop experience.

Avery The Czar Imperial Stout
Beer Style: Russian Imperial Stout
Hop Variety: Magnum, German Hallertau
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, black, chocolate, carafa 111, cara 8, cara 45, honey malt
OG: 1.100 ABV: 11.03% IBUs: 60
Color: Black
Availability: Seasonally produced from November through February. 22oz. bombers, 1/6BBL and 1/2BBL kegs.

Behold the stunning crimson hues through the inky blackness. Inhale the noble Hallertau hops, spicy and floral. Savor the flavors redolent of English toffee, rich mocha, sweet molasses, candied currants and a hint of anise. We highly recommend cellaring additional bottles, as the Czar will continue to mature and become denser

Avery White Rascal Belgian-Style Wheat Ale
Beer Style: Belgian White Ale
Hop Variety: Czech Saaz
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, Belgian wheat
OG: 1.050 ABV: 5.6% IBUs: 10
Color: White

A truly authentic Belgian style wheat or "white" ale, this Rascal is unfiltered (yup, that's yeast on the bottom) and cleverly spiced with coriander and Curacao orange peel producing a refreshingly fruity thirst quencher.

Avery New World Porter
Beer Style: Robust Porter
Hop Variety: Columbus, Fuggles
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, Munich 10L, chocolate, black, caramel 120L
OG: 1.065 ABV: 6.7% IBUs: 45
Color: Black
Availability: Seasonal, January to April. Six-packs, cases, 1/6BBL and 1/2BBL kegs.

A traditional black porter, with a surprise twist - it's dry-hopped!! We've expanded the porter category a bit, adding a delightful, dry hop aroma to blend with the sweet caramel and chocolate characteristics of a Robust Porter.

Avery Ellie's Brown Ale
Beer Style: American Brown Ale
Hop Variety: Bullion, Cascade, Fuggles
Malt Variety: Two-row barley, chocolate, Munich 10L, caramel 120L
OG: 1.056 ABV: 5.5% IBUs: 17
Color: Deep Russet
Availability: Year round. Six-packs, cases, 1/6BBL and 1/2BBL kegs.

This beautiful, deep russet brew has the sweet and somewhat nutty character of Adam Avery's late (1992-2002) Chocolate Lab, for which it is named. Crystal and chocolate malts give this beer a brown sugar maltiness with hints of vanilla and nuts, while subtle hopping gives it an overall drinkability that's second to none, just like Ellie!

Jolly Pumpkin Artisan Ales

Jolly Pumpkin Oro de Calabaza
Brewed in the Franco-Belgian tradition of strong golden ales. Spicy and peppery with a gentle hop bouquet and the beguiling influence of wild yeast.

GABF 2004 Gold Medal & GABF 2005 Bronze

Year round production
8% Alc./Vol.

Jolly Pumpkin E.S. Bam - Extra Special Farmhouse Ale
A Bam celebration of excess. More malt, more hops, same vivacious personality.

Seasonal released in April
4.7% Alc./Vol.
